Healing Power Is Found In TIME

Healing Power

“Pain is a pesky part of being human, I’ve learned it feels like a stab wound to the heart, something I wish we could all do without, in our lives here. Pain is a sudden hurt that can’t be escaped. But then I have also learned that because of pain, I can feel the beauty, tenderness, and freedom of healing. Pain feels like a fast stab wound to the heart. But then healing feels like the wind against your face when you are spreading your wings and flying through the air! We may not have wings growing out of our backs, but healing is the closest thing that will give us that wind against our faces.”
― C. JoyBell C.

The Healing Power Of Time

“Nine-tenths of wisdom consists in being wise in time.” -Theodore Roosevelt

It is well known that indeed it is better to be unborn than untaught, for ignorance is the root of misfortune.

Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters.

The pain all human beings go through as a result of ignorance, lack of wisdom, lack of experience, etc. is beyond unnecessary.

Thankfully, time provides us all the healing power to realize that sooner or later.

We are then able to utilize time to acquire the wisdom we need to overcome the various trials we all face. Isn’t it just beautiful how time provides us with a chance to recover from all kinds of wounds, be it physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual wounds?

Time inevitably releases its healing power, only if and when we actively take the necessary actions to facilitate that healing.

Healing Power

The healing benefits of time do not apply to us if we are not doing the work!!

Every single human being that walks on the face of this earth experiences pain, suffering, lack, and dissatisfaction at one point or another in their lifetime.

This then means there is a need to adapt to our environment and find ways to overcome. Most who give up on finding a way to access their healing are those who then give in to a lifetime of perpetual misery or at worst, succumb to death.

Expecting time to passively heal our wounds is nothing but a recipe for prolonged disappointment.

The reality is, time doesn’t do anything other than pass.

Unless we are truly willing to take time to actually lean into the work and use the time to find ways to deal with our wounds and shortcomings, all we will see is just the clock ticking ceaselessly.

Healing visible and invisible wounds.

It is encouraging to see how with time physical wounds heal.

Some heal quicker than others depending on the severity and course of action taken to facilitate the recovery process. It is with no doubt that in time, many people have received full recovery from physical ailments.

Such is the beauty of time.

The plight of invisible wounds people carry with them day in, day out, is almost unimaginable.

Today we see an unhappy generation with ‘happy faces.’

With time when sustainable solutions are not applied, people learn to mask their pain. They get really good at pretending to be okay.

They master the art of developing and applying coping mechanisms to survive.

Such is the sad reality we see when we observe the people around us including ourselves when the healing work isn’t put in yet.

Old wounds are day in day out triggered at differing scales in various circumstances.

This reality keeps unfolding and replaying itself for years and decades unless one reaches a turning point and decides to use the power of time to make a difference.

Unless we take time to process our deeply rooted irrational beliefs about ourselves, such as thinking; ‘I’m not good enough, l am a people pleaser, l am unlovable, I can’t do this, etc.’ time will simply pass and we will still live on with those imprisoning narratives.

If you subscribe to these negative narratives about yourself, it is important to pose this question to yourself, ‘How long am l going to sit back and resign to those narratives rather than actively do something positive about it?’

Good Therapy

Good therapy.

Therapy is a process of meeting with a counselor or psychotherapist to resolve problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, and related physical problems.

With the dynamic nature of our society today, therapy is no longer only limited to this kind of setup, but can also include the process of learning from others, from books, or a helpful system to solve a particular problem.

What then is good therapy?

Not all therapy is beneficial.

Countless people invest their time in therapy and simply vent for hours while their therapists listen.

If it ends there, that is certainly not good therapy.

To experience the healing power of time through receiving therapy, one has to invest in good therapy.

This is a progressive kind of therapy that allows for an exchange of ideas. The therapist has to listen, challenge, encourage and help you reflect.

There is therapeutic value in venting and having a safe space to do so, but if it simply ends there, then where is the growth?

Good therapy should be challenging, collaborative, and at times uncomfortable. It has to be more than hearing yourself talk for hours.

This can be a gift that everyone gifts themselves with. The time to reflect and heal.

Time gives us all the opportunity to heal.

To fully tap into the healing power of time, we need to make it part of our daily lifestyle.

We don’t just passively grow out of negative situations with time.

If we don’t use the power of time to heal us through us choosing to face our pain, the pain will undeniably manifest in other destructive ways in our lives even if we think there is no correlation.

You Can

You can do it!

Today l challenge you to look inward and lean into the discomfort.

Take time to process your deepest and most vulnerable feelings. Allow yourself to heal from any limiting belief, childhood, or adolescent trauma that may be holding you back.

Allow yourself to tap into the healing power of time by taking action.

Do not be afraid to allow time to be your friend in helping you become and express the best version of yourself every day going forward. You can certainly do it!

“It only seems impossible until it’s done.” -Nelson Mandela.
